Support local business, your community and the American Dream
Learn about our local businesses and the people who run them
I know something about the power of community.
When my late husband got sick in 2008, people we hardly knew seemed to materialize into our lives. They cooked for me when I wouldn’t eat and they called him when he was bored because he couldn’t leave the hospital. When he died, they packed the funeral home and when I tired of talking about his death, they simply said they were glad to see me.
Your community isn’t just your friends and family. It’s also your neighbors and the people you work with, the local shopkeepers and the farmers you meet at the farmers’ market.
You know them. You like them and you trust them. That’s why you would rather do business with those shopkeepers and farmers than faceless corporations.
If only those local businesses were easier to find when you need them! Without the advertising budget of larger companies, they struggle to make themselves known. How do you find that great local farm when you need tomatoes or someone who makes cupcakes with real flavor when you’re planning a party?
Brave, talented people in our community follow their dreams and start businesses here in Colorado Springs all the time and we all benefit from knowing about them.
Hungry Chicken Homestead wants to connect you with local business owners in Colorado Springs. We want to tell you their stories. And what stories they are! Hear about people like Monse Hines, who married an American soldier and moved to America from El Salvador with her family’s recipe for curtido, and Angela Buchanan, who used her cupcakes to bring joy to her mother’s final days.

Whenever we hear a great story, we’ll send it to you on a card in the mail, along with the business contact information. We’ll also mail you a magnet to keep your favorite stories on the refrigerator, so you can find them again when you need them!
If you want to know more when you get the card, go to www.HungryChickenHomestead.com to see the full story.
