Radiantly Raw Chocolate

I’ve had this conversation with Jacquie Mosher, owner and chocolatier at Radiantly Raw, several times.

“I need to tell people about the health benefits of raw chocolate.  Once they understand how healthy it is, they’ll want some,” says Jacquie.

I always smile at that.  In my opinion, all she has to do is offer someone a sample.  Jacquie is a very talented chocolatier.

I have proof, in fact.

Mountain Mama carries Radiantly Raw’s products and I buy a box of two chocolates nearly every time I go there.  They carry several different flavors and one time I bought the “Hot Chicks” chocolate, which contains cinnamon, vanilla and a touch of cayenne.

The cayenne was a bit too much for me and I gave the remaining chocolates to another member of the Homestead household.

“Do we have any more of that chocolate?”, she asked the next day.  Trust me when I say we are now well stocked.

The ingredient list of Radiantly Raw's products is never long. These salty hearts are just cacao, coconut oil, honey, vanilla and salt.

Jacquie learned about those health benefits to solve her own health problems.  She was diagnosed with fibromyalgia at the tender age of 22 and has spent years researching and testing ways to heal herself.  She tried a variety of diets, including vegan and raw food diets.  Though she no longer adheres strictly to any one of these diets, she believes minimal processing of food is critical to our health.

Her dietary journey led her to develop raw chocolates, lucky for the rest of us. (photo credit: Radiantly Raw)

She was making the chocolates for herself, but when she moved from New England to Colorado Springs it seemed like the right time to start a business and bring the chocolate to others.  Locally grown, high quality food is very popular in New England and Jacquie explained that nearly every restaurant displays a list of local farms showing where they get their ingredients.

Colorado Springs is moving in that direction and Jacquie wants to be part of bringing better food to our city.

“I’ve never been prouder of what I do,” she said.  “I’m part of a movement.  It’s invigorating!”

What better way to start eating more locally than with chocolate?
