The Dive

“I’d like to order the ham and eggs, without eggs,” I told the server, explaining that I had plenty of eggs at home.  ”Do you think it will be enough food?”

She and my companion laughed.

It was plenty of food... plenty of food for two people!

You’ll find The Dive on 31st. St. at W. Colorado Ave.  Inside, you’ll find cheerful wait staff and a variety of breakfasts, burgers and BBQ.

The Dive is very accommodating and will get you whatever you want.  If you want breakfast in the afternoon or lunch in the morning, they are perfectly happy to make it for you.  And if you want fries instead of hash browns at 9:30 AM, that’s what you’ll get.

I wasn’t hungry for hours after that breakfast that day, but wanted to try lunch, so another friend and I went back on a different day.

I ate this bacon burger, some at lunch and some for dinner later.

This pulled chicken BBQ sandwich was a special. Yum!

Since breakfast and lunch had gone so well, the Local Foods Meetup group met there for lunch yesterday.  The Dive did a great job!  Some of us had to get back to work, but they had us seated, fed and checked out in an hour.

And don’t forget dessert!

We had an in-depth discussion with a server about the utility of ice cream, which they do not have and we did not miss.

This berry pie did not need ice cream or cream of any kind. It only needed a fork.

Usually, I try to interview someone at a restaurant before writing about them, but I never got the chance at the Dive.  I was too busy immersing myself in the smells, sights and flavors.  It’s a 1950′s style diner; homespun with homemade food and friendly service.

And breakfast ham as big as the plate!

  1. OMG! I can’t wait to go. I’ve been meaning to check it out for quite some time. Everything looks wonderfully and distinctly homemade.:-)
